The CPCA Women’s Committee plays a critical role in our organization.
Its primary purpose is to empower women and amplify their voices in the face of ongoing challenges, including political conflict, social inequality, and economic hardship. The committee aims to promote the active participation of women in all spheres of life, including politics, education, and community development.
Members of the committee serve as ambassadors, raising awareness and educating communities about the specific issues faced by Palestinians, including the impacts of occupation and the genocide.
Initiatives by the Women’s Committee:
- Fundraising Events: Every Ramadan, the CWC collaborates with Islamic Relief to organize the annual Women’s Iftar in support of projects in Palestine. In April 2024, the Women’s Committee raised $82,000 at the event to sponsor orphans in Gaza.
- Workshops: The CWC organizes educational sessions on topics such as Tatreez, health, education, and empowerment.
- Community Outreach: The CWC connects with other communities, inviting them to the CPCA House and supporting community members in need.
- Cultural Event: The CWC held the first “Taste of Palestine” at the Jewel, celebrating Palestinian heritage and culture.
- Support Networks: Every Saturday, the CWC meets at the Palestinian House, providing a support group for women facing challenges and offering a safe space for sharing experiences and advice.
- Health and Wellness Initiatives: The CWC organizes workshops focused on physical and mental health.
